This week at the Twilio Conference, the five finalists of the latest round of the Twilio Fund will be pitching their startups to compete for investment from the micro-fund. The fund is meant to encourage usage of the Twilio API as a platform and was created through a Twilio and 500 Startups partnership.
The latest round of Twilio Fund startups that will be presenting at TwilioCon are:
Remind101 – A safe way for teachers to text message students and stay in touch with parents.
TeenDriver – A parent-focused, community-based resource for the parents of teen drivers, that provides license plate frames and decals on a teen’s car allow the community to provide confidential feedback about his/her driving.
CallMeMeeting – Makes it easy to schedule conference calls that everyone is sure to attend, because instead of calling into a conference line, the conference line calls you.
BlueFusion – Empowers cause-based organizations to conduct truly social outreach and fundraising.
TalkDesk – Enables companies to build cloud-based call centers for providing customer support integrated with existing support and CRM systems like Zendesk and Highrise.
In addition to these five finalists, there will also be presentations from three Twilio Fund alumni FastCall 411, Proven.com, and Volta. Each startup will have 10 minutes to present their businesses and demonstrate their applications built on top of Twilio, before a panel of respected industry experts, including Paul Singh of 500 Startups, Alastair Goldfisher of Thomson Reuters, and Manu Kumar of K9 Ventures.
