If you are planning to be in Portland for the OSCON convention starting July 25, or if you just love working with APIs, come to the API Hackday PDX. The Saturday after OSCON sees this free event where developers can come together, learn about APIs and hack their way to cool prizes in the day-long hackathon.
The API Hackday PDX will be held on Saturday, July 30 at the offices of Urban Airship, 334 NW 11th St. in Portland. The event runs from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and kicks off with API workshops. Developers then form teams and hack away on their projects. Presentations begin at 6:00 p.m. and the judges will select the winners by end of the day.
There are over $2K in prizes in addition to showcasing your application to your peers and top judges. The grand prize is a $750 Apple gift card. There are various API spot bonus prizes too, so be sure to check up on the APIs of the sponsors.
The event is brought to you by SimpleGeo, Twilio, SendGrid, Apigee, PHPFog, Urban Airship, Mashery & ProgrammableWeb.
Tickets are free but limited and you are advised to register early. For full event details and registering yourself, visit the API Hackday PDX event site.
