This week we had 22 new APIs added to our API directory including a cloud-based audio management, location based tracking service, dictionary lookup service and virtual currency platform. Below is more detail on each of these new APIs.
AudioBox.fm API: Like a cloud-based iTunes. AudioBox is an open platform to store, manage and stream your media library in the cloud. The API provides methods for storing, retrieving and organizing your music. All calls require SSL.
buddyfetch API: The buddyfetch API gives users access to the buddyfetch.com social/people search engine and allows them to integrate buddyfetch search in their website or software. buddyfetch is a social search engine that allows users to connect with other people on the Internet based on their occupation, hobbies, interests and more. The buddyfetch API provides the abilitity to query buddyfetch social search from external sources, websites, applications etc. It uses RESTful calls and responses are formatted in XML.
CentralDesktop API: Central Desktop is an online collaboration software and Sharepoint Alternative for businesses. The Central Desktop API is available to Company, Community and Enterprise Plan Subscribers Only. The API uses SOAP architecture and responses are formatted in XML. A custom WSDL is provided for the user.
Clearwire Location Platform API: With this API, users can customize their Web page or application to obtain a position from the CLP. The Clearwire Location Platform (CLP) is a cell sector location system that interfaces with the existing Clearwire wireless network infrastructure to provide the location of devices within the network based upon the centeroid of the sector to which they are connected. A cell is typically divided into three sectors, thus, providing a higher level of precision than just the geodetic address (Lat, Long) of the tower.
CurdBee API: The CurdBee REST API allows users to integrate the CurdBee software with existing systems to streamline processes. CurdBee is an online billing software for small businesses and freelancers to simplify invoicing needs. It allows users to send professional invoices, estimates online and get paid. The API uses RESTful calls and responses are formatted in either XML or JSON.
Data24-7 API: Data24-7’s real-time API allows users to retrieve the email-to-SMS, and email-to-MMS gateway addresses for wireless phones. Data24-7 delivers real-time data such as phone carrier lookups, email-to-SMS gateway solutions, caller name (cname) services, and more. With the API, users can send bulk text and picture-text messages. users can send phone numbers, and in return get two e-mail addresses for each one; an email-to-SMS address (for text messages), and an email-to-MMS address (for picture texts). Dictionary.com API: Use the Web’s most popular dictionary to look up words within your application. Provides access to the Dictionary.com dictionary, thesaurus, slang, word of the day and more. Only non-commercial applications are allowed and API keys are reviewed. We flipped through Dictionary.com API on the blog
DNSimple API: Register and update domains via the DNSimple API. Other commands allow you to transfer a domain from another registrar to DNSimple, create records for a domain, and create and apply templates to group common records together and apply them all at once to a domain. ecofreek API: The ecofreek API allows users to include ecofreek search on their website or software. ecofreek.com is a search engine that searches the web for free and ‘for swap/trade’ items people no longer need from over 45+ sources. The API gives the user several options including feed by date, free or swap items, or from specific resources. The API uses RESTful calls and responses are formatted in XML.
Elance API: The Elance Developer API exposes the Elance system through a Web-based interface that can be called from any application platform. Elance provides an online platform for freelancers and employers to connect. Using the Elance API, users can obtain profile data for providers, search our database of available jobs, and obtain listings of groups and their members. All that is required is an account and an API key. The API uses RESTful calls and responses are formatted in JSON.
Empora Evergreen API: Fashion search API that allows users to monetise fashion-related content. It provides a way to access product data from top retailers and brands around the world. Search parameters include brand, price, colour or keyword. Empora is the UK’s leading fashion search engine. The API uses RESTful calls and responses are formatted in XML.
Golem.de API: The Golem.de web site is in German but appears to be a database of articles on the latest IT news. The API uses a RESTful interface to allow users to search and retrieve both articles and videos in a variety of ways or access article and video metadata. Responses are formatted in either XML or JSON.
Hictu API: Hictu is a video microblogging site. It provides an API for retrieving video posts and user profiles, as well as the ability to post text/video messages. The basic API does not require an API Key and is read-only. The Advanced API allows users access to the Hictu platform with write permission. Using this method users can post their thoughts on the home page or share videos.
KPI Dashboard API: KPI Dashboard is an online tool for anyone who wants to create and share company dashboards with colleagues, or partners. The KPI Dashboard API is a simple and secure interface for accessing your KPI Dashboard account data using plain XML or JSON over HTTP using all four REST commands � GET, POST, PUT and DELETE.
Kumutu API: The Kumutu API allows users to interact and “sync” with suppliers from your own web sites and applications. Kumutu gives adventure operators an exclusive opportunity to market, sell and distribute their activities from one central location. Kumutu provides a distribution system for adventure activity operators and activities worldwide via a Rest XML API. Operators and activities include white water rafting, rock climbing, kite surfing, scuba diving, surfing, etc.
Matrix SMS Gateway API: The Matrix SMS Gateway API allows for integration with various front-end and legacy systems. Matrix SMS Gateway for group messaging provides businesses a hosted messaging platform to add SMS capability to any system, application or website. The APIs offer users a choice of connection options (HTTP, HTTPS, SMTP) that are flexible and will fit many kinds of usage. API functionality includes sending SMS and voice messages, querying message status and cellular carrier lookup. Responses can be formatted in XML or JSON.
Mobile Commons API: The Mobile Commons platform integrates SMS, phone calls, and Web applications with CRMs and databases, as well as Twitter, Facebook applications, flash widgets, and geo-location features.
The Mobile Commons API is REST-based and lets developers interact with much of the functionality of the main site. The API can be used to send text messages, schedule broadcasts, and query for groups and profiles. Responses are formatted in XML.
ObexCode API: ObexCode AS is an innovative software company focusing on hosted services for mobile synchronization and backup, personal content management, data mobilization and social media integration. The ObexCode Sync API is a REST-based API to our mobile sync server that allows users to configure, synchronize and integrate devices and applications. The API can be used for content handling and synchronization for mobile devices. Create custom mobile sync solutions for SyncML and ActiveSync mobile phones, and web services such as Google and Facebook. Responses are formatted in XML.
Open Source Currency API: An open source currency project with a REST API. Allows for exchanges of virtual currency between users. Responses can be formatted in either XML or JSON.
Osmek API: Osmek is a web publishing system that believes content is king. It’s a beautiful and simple user interface for creating content, and a powerful set of APIs for retrieving it where and how you need it. The API features a RESTful interface and returns data in the JSON, PHP, HTML, and XML formats.
Simple Sales Tracking API: From the website: “View and Modify your data in Simple Sales Tracking, from another website or application. There are a lot of possibilities. Here are a few ideas:

Zeo Sleep Measurement API: The Zeo API is a set of web services that allow third parties to develop applications that allow users full access to their individual sleep records. A set of operations is provided using HTTP and can return data in either JSON or XML formats. All API operations must be authorized and authenticated using OAuth. Using the Zeo API, developers will have the ability to access nightly sleep data including ZQ scores, total sleep time, the number of times woken, and the amount of REM, light, and deep sleep. Additionally, developers will be able to display a sleep graph, showing how the user slept in 5-minute increments throughout the night.
