This week we had 8 new APIs added to our API directory including a monitoring and alert service, mind map service, email customer service platform and news popularity service. Below is more details on each of these new APIs.

AlertGridAlertGrid API: AlertGrid is an online service that helps developers easily integrate alerting and events filtering functionalities into their systems or applications. With multiple alert types, history tracking and data visualization, it aims to become a real alternative to heavy-weight monitoring tools.

IdeaTreeIdeaTree API: Programmatically create mind maps using JavaScript and embed the maps into your website. IdeaTree suggests you might “build your own clickable social graph, indicate visually the relevance of bookmarks, or develop a dynamically changing site map.”

Since IdeaTree uses HTML 5, it only currently works with iPad, iPhone, Safari, Firefox, Chrome, Opera browsers.

New York Times Most PopularNew York Times Most Popular API: The New York Times Most Popular API provides links and information about the most frequently e-mailed, shared and viewed blog posts and articles on the New York Times website. Developers can look at popularity based on views, emails and shares. In the case of the last method, developers can also look at shares on specific social networks, including Twitter, Facebook, Digg and more.

NicereplyNicereply API: Nicereply is an email rating system that lets customers decide the quality of the service. Using a unique URL at the end of emails, Nicereply helps you see how your customers think you are doing. The Nicereply API provides access to the ratings, so you can see how the company–or a particular customer service representative–is being rated over a period of time.

OokabooOokaboo API: The Ookaboo Semantic API is an search API for creative commons images that achieves unprecedented precision by using semantic web vocabularies to describe their content.

Open Dining Network Food OrderingOpen Dining Network Food Ordering API: The API provides functionality for consumers and restaurants to access the Open Dining Network for viewing menus and placing or taking meal orders. The Open Dining Network lists menus for restaurants for customers to search and order from via web and mobile devices. The REST API allows for common consumer tasks such as searching for nearby restaurants or menu items, viewing a restaurant or menu item’s details and building an order. For restaurants, the API allows for common administrative tasks such as adding a new menu item, updating existing menu offerings and changing business hours.

ThoundsThounds API: Thounds is a home for your music thoughts. Create snippets of music or inspiration, share them with your friends and let them grow. The API provides access to most aspects of the Thounds website, including creating tracks, registering users and managing friendship connections.

USA TodayUSA Today API: The nationwide newspaper USA Today provides several datasets to access its content and collected data, including best selling books and sports salaries. Currently in private beta. We had a chance to give it a speak peak.
