10 New APIs: From Handmade Goods to Music to Government Data

As part of our ongoing series of posts highlighting the latest new APIs on ProgrammableWeb, in the past week we’ve added 10 new web service APIs to our listings. They cover a range services from handmade goods (Etsy) to music (Song.ly) to government data (FRED). Since we won’t have time to cover all of these individually, here’s the full set of new listings:

EtsyEtsy API: Etsy is an online marketplace for buying and selling handmade things. The Etsy API lets you develop applications built on this fast growing e-commerce platform. Our detailed Etsy API launch report.

EviscapeEviscape API: Eviscape is a social network communication platform based on what they call Evis. An Evi can be a short message or full page posting to be shared with others.

FREDFRED API: The FRED API is a web service that allows developers to write programs and build applications that retrieve economic data from the FRED and ALFRED websites hosted by the Economic Research Division of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. Requests can be customized according to data source, release, category, series, and other preferences. Our detailed FRED API coverage here.

IntelePeerIntelePeer API: The IntelePeer platform integrates voice telephony capabilities delivered to any communications device. The Open Communications Platform allows for functional telephony-powered applications, pre-integrated and offered as a complete managed service. Note, no public API documentation not available.

Microsoft TranslatorMicrosoft Translator API: The Microsoft Translator AJAX API provides automated translation of web pages and portions of web pages into different languages. Our coverage of the Microsoft Translator API here.

PhotoShowPhotoShow API: Lets users create custom PhotoShows, using their photos, without leaving your site. PhotoShows they make can be displayed on your site. Users can embed their shows into sites like MySpace or Facebook, potentially driving viral traffic back to you. They can also order DVDs or broadcast their shows to cable TV.

PopShopsPopShops API: PopShops is a tool to help affiliates find and promote products on their websites that will earn them commissions. An affiliate network is a trusted third party that provides tracking for affiliate transactions for multiple merchants.

Song.lySong.ly API: the Song.ly web service allows users to share and discover music on Twitter. Followers will get a short link to a page allowing them to play the song in the browser without having to download it first.

TogglToggl API: Toggl is an online time tracking tool for freelancers and teams. Toggl provides you the most basic features needed for fast and effective time management. Toggl has desktop widgets and an iGoogle gadget for even faster access.

YOYOIndiaYOYOIndia API: YOYOIndia is a social networking site for everything India. They offer an open API for developers to build their own widgets called “YOYOs”.
