Best New Mashups

John Musser, September 8th, 2006

Campaign MapThe past few weeks have seen a variety of interesting mashups added here. Some include:

  • Massachusetts Campaign Contribution Map: A map of contributions to 2006 Massachusetts gubernatorial campaigns. Uses the Google Maps API and data from the Massachusetts Office of Campaign and Political finance. One of the most extensive use of data with layering on Google Maps. More on their blog.
  • Siam Soundtrek: Siam Soundtrek is working to preserve the heritage sites of Old Bangkok. To draw awareness they have established a Google Maps mashup on their website and samples of their Mp3 tour through the heart of the old city can be downloaded right from the map.
  • MashPlanet: Find mashed up maps in your locale: city, state, country, or the world, sorted by categories. Updated daily with your suggestions.
  • Rate My Dance Moves: A hot-or-not style dance rating site based on YouTube videos tagged dance.
  • Blipstar: Simple tool for adding an interactive store locator mapping to your website.
  • Official Flickr Map: The official map mashup of Yahoo! Maps and Flickr photos. Nicely done.
