Mashup Images Go Large

John Musser, September 6th, 2006

ProgrammableWebA long time wishlist item for ProgrammableWeb was rolled-out over the weekend: big screenshots for the mashups. Many readers had commented that having thumbnail images was nice but it would be much handier to have screenshots large enough to get a good sense of what the mashup site really was. So now when you go to view any mashup detail you’ll see an expanded version of something like this:

MashupDetail

As you can see, the image size and quality is proportionally much bigger and better. And frankly since some of the maps mashups can be slow to load this helps you make a better should I bother to visit decision prior to clicking through. For examples, visit the mashup details for the fun Rate My Dance Moves (shown above) and Google vs. Yahoo! Maps.

Hi Robert, no API at all, just a comination of desktop screen capture tools and some PHP libraries.

The initial post for this outlined a change to mashup lists but that update is currently ‘in the lab’ being refined. More site updates coming soon.
