It turns-out that the US Postal Service has its own set of web APIs (and has had some of them for nearly three years). They offer five types of APIs: Address Information, Delivery Information, Rate Calculators, Shipping Labels, and Carrier Pickup. The programming model is a custom XML over HTTP approach. The API documentation is reasonably good yet has a certain ‘governmental office’ feel to it.
Thanks to an anonymous poster yesterday for adding this and there’s now 125 APIs in the database.
